1. Discuss extreme measures taken by Chinese to control their people: education limited; number of children controlled & 'less-than-perfect children' disposed of; removed all beauty from their lives but Benfu named daughters with flower names.
2. Discuss how Chinese traditions have a hold on the elderly and how the youth are transcending the traditions.
3. Discuss how Benfu, his children and grandchildren overcame the oppression of the Mao regime. What is the significance of the violin?
